HELMETS UP : TO A GENTLEMAN
Des Pistorius : 22 nd April 2014

Des Pistorius, an Icon, yes, a Legend, yes: …..  How does one put into word's this proud and gentle nomad who will stay in the hearts of his fellow bikers forever?  Yes, he wore the patch of Ulysses, but no man; woman or child can claim the wind. Des was just like the breeze, softly spoken with a twinkle in his eye and a naughty grin, Boswell by his side, he was just always there, unassuming, and living the life that we, bikers, only dream of. In more places than we can think of, on the road, in the desert, in the towns, Des lives! …….. Wherever he went, he touched the lives of people who didn’t even know him.

I lived, I loved, I laughed, I cried.
And now I've left on my perfect ride.
Oh my brothers do not be grieving,
for, I'm out there - I'm not leaving.
I ride now on a different plain.
I still have the sun, the wind and rain.
When I look back on my many years,
my eyes are filled with joyful tears.
Your warmth and smiles, my family,
I will always hold close to me.
So raise your glasses and wish me good cheer,
as I ride the next million knowing you're there.
And one last thing before I ride,
Widget is with me, by my side.
